Learning anything worthwhile, like a musical instrument, can make your child feel frustrated. But it’s 10x harder when you feel like you’re alone…or when other kids are doing more “exciting” things like joining a sport.
That’s why we offer group piano lessons—to inspire your child to learn with other children (maybe even their own sibling!), develop skills, make music, and contribute to something bigger than themselves.

[Maria] tailors her lessons to suit my daughter’s learning pace and ensures that the fundamentals are strong while also introducing creative elements to keep her engaged. My daughter has made remarkable progress under her instruction, and her enthusiasm for playing the piano has grown immensely.
Improve their ability to handle pressure through the opportunity to perform at our studio recital and local community festivals
Develop a deeper appreciation for music by learning about composers, instilling in them a respect for focused work & craft
Be around peers and share in the learning experience while receiving 1-on-1, tailored feedback from Maria (owner and lead piano teacher)
Have the opportunity to learn independently in a group setting through our station-based learning.
WHAT YOUR CHILD CAN EXPECT FROM A Group PIANO Class
Feel inspired to learn and practice at home so they can continue making music and have fun during class!
Your child can work on their piano technique on one of our in-studio electric keyboards. To keep the classroom quiet for the two other students, headphones will be provided for your child.
The first 20 minutes:
Once the first 20 mins are up, your child will switch to the next “station”—working on piano theory. Your child can either do it through a book they’ve purchased, or through a curated music theory app on the studio tablet.
The Next 20 minutes:
During the last 20 mins of class, your child has undivided attention from the piano teacher as they play their song on the acoustic piano. In this station, your child will get personalized feedback about their song, or address any questions from the other two stations!

HOW DO GROUP PIANO CLASSES WORK?
Say there are 13 lessons between Sep-Dec 2025, accounting for BC statutory holidays. This means your child's balance for the term would be $30 x 13 lessons = $390. We then divide equally over the 4 months (Sep-Dec).
So your monthly bill would be $97.50.

As your child gets older, they will need more mature feedback tailored to their skill. This is why our private piano lesson rates grow in proportion to the level of skill and mentorship we provide.

After 15 years of teaching children within elementary schools, 23 years of teaching piano, and being a mom of 4 boys, I’ve learned the best way to motivate them:
Children thrive when they feel like they’re seen, celebrated, and encouraged.
Most students quit learning music not because they find the material too hard—it’s because they don’t feel supported enough.
That’s why MV Studio is dedicated to uplifting children to be the best versions of themselves, one lesson at a time.

More about Maria
Cancellations should be made at least 24 hours in advance to ensure a make-up class can be arranged. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will still count as a lesson, unless there is a valid reason. If the teacher needs to cancel, a rescheduled lesson will be offered at the next available time.
Maria (owner and lead instructor) will be teaching your child!
There are 3 students max per group piano class.
While there isn’t a “minimum” age to take piano lessons, we typically recommend children ages 6 and younger take private piano lessons first, instead of group lessons. This is because, through private lessons, we can establish good piano habits that will serve as foundation for your child’s learning! We are, however, open to discovering what’s best for your child. If you have questions or concerns about where your child should be placed, please contact us first before attempting to register your child to ensure fit!
Group piano lessons are held once a week, and each group lesson is 1 hour long.
Yes—the specific book(s) your child will need will be determined after you fill out the registration form. We need certain context like whether or not they’ve taken lessons before. You’ll receive the exact books your child will need after registration!
Awesome! If your children are younger than 6 years old or their piano grade level is below Grade 4, they can be in the same group piano lesson. This is because siblings are often great motivators—it can create a natural, healthy competition that helps raise driven children who are set up for success. And as a parent, I would jump on the chance to drop off my children to ONE session!
If your child would benefit from more personalized attention and a focused learning environment, private lessons are the best choice. However, if your child is comfortable in a group setting, they can join a 1-hour group lesson, where they can learn from other students.
Group lessons also make it convenient for parents with multiple children, as siblings can be enrolled in the same class, making drop-off easier! By grade level 4, it's generally recommended to switch to private lessons for more advanced instruction.
